Tekken Advance is a fighting game published by Namco for the Game Boy Advance in 2001.

Game Details:

Developed by Namco and released on the GBA in December 2001, Tekken Advance was the first attempt to bring the classic 3D fighting series Tekken to a Nintendo handheld. Based on Tekken 3, the game masterfully adapts 3D fighting mechanics to the GBA's 2D plane. Featuring 9 classic characters like Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama, Paul Phoenix, and Hwoarang, it retains core systems such as sidestepping, juggle combos, and counters. With fluid animation and excellent hit impact, it stands as a rare hardcore fighting masterpiece on the GBA.

Game Guide:

Simplified Basic Moves:

The game simplifies the four-button attack system to A for kicks and B for punches. Classic moves can be executed by combining these with directional inputs.

Signature Moves and Juggle Combos:

  • Jin Kazama: Forward + B (Right Straight), Down-Forward + B to trigger the "Wind God Fist" and launch opponents, followed by A·A·B for high juggle combo damage.
  • Kazuya Mishima: Down-Forward + B (God Fist). Once the opponent is launched, follow up with Forward + A·A combos; Back + B triggers an evasive counter.
  • Paul Phoenix: Down-Forward + B unleashes his iconic "Phoenix Smasher." With a strong hitbox and devastating damage, it is a game-breaking move for clearing Arcade Mode.

Combat and Defensive Strategies:

Double-tap "Up" or "Down" to perform a sidestep, which perfectly evades linear projectiles and straight punches. When pressuring enemies, use low sweeps (Down + A) to break high guards, then follow up with launchers to easily defeat your opponents.
