Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade is a classic tactical RPG developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the GBA in 2002.
Game Details:
Developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance in March 2002, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade is the series' first handheld entry. It chronicles the grand epic of Roy, son of Eliwood, who rises to lead an allied resistance against the Kingdom of Bern after its massive invasion across the continent of Elibe. Carrying forward the franchise's classic permadeath mechanic and the Weapon Triangle system, it inaugurated the celebrated GBA Fire Emblem trilogy.
Game Guide:
Weapon Triangle and Hit Rates:
Strictly observe the Weapon Triangle: Swords beat Axes, Axes beat Lances, and Lances beat Swords. Enemies in this entry boast relatively high Avoid stats, so rely on high-accuracy units (such as Myrmidons and Archers) to kite enemies and secure finishing blows.
Divine Weapons and True Ending Requirements:
There are 8 Divine Weapons in total. You must acquire every Divine Weapon and keep their durability from reaching zero in order to access the True Ending (Chapters 23–25) after Chapter 22. Be sure to complete all Gaiden chapters within their designated turn limits.
Core Unit Training:
The protagonist, Roy, promotes very late in the game (Chapter 21 or Chapter 21x), so there is no need to funnel excessive resources into him early on. It is recommended to focus on training Swordmaster Rutger, the red-and-green Cavalier duo, Pegasus Knights, and the high-growth mage Artur.
Tackling High-Difficulty Stages:
When confronting high-Defense armored units and Wyvern Riders, make effective use of effective-damage weaponry like the Horseslayer and Armorslayer, as well as Bolting and Aircalibur to execute targeted strikes. When facing the final boss, the Dark Priestess, equip Roy with the Binding Blade and capitalize on Critical Hits to dispatch her quickly and clear the game.
