Onimusha Tactics is a tactical RPG released by Capcom for the GBA in 2003.

Game Overview:

Onimusha Tactics is a tactical role-playing game released by Capcom for the Game Boy Advance in July 2003 in Japan and November 2003 in North America. As a turn-based tactical spin-off of the acclaimed action series Onimusha, this title adapts the dark Sengoku fantasy universe into an isometric, grid-based strategy experience. The story follows Onimaru, a descendant of the Oni Clan, as he steps forward to rally legendary Sengoku warlords and mystics into an allied force. Utilizing tactical battle formations and the power of the Oni, they fight to thwart Nobunaga Oda—corrupted by the Genma—in his ruthless quest to conquer Japan.

Strategy Guide:

Soul Absorption & Post-Battle Upgrades:

Defeating Genma enemies in battle yields Red Souls, which can be used after battles to enhance weapons and armor. It is highly recommended to prioritize upgrading Onimaru's primary weapon and accessories for your core spellcasters to quickly boost your kill thresholds and sustain magical output.

Team Composition & Unit Synergy:

Onimaru excels with explosive physical burst damage and devastating Oni Arts. Spearmen are ideal for chipping away at enemies from safety across obstacles using their 2-tile reach. Archers and gunners provide long-range disruption and execute weakened targets, while mages (such as Okuni) form the backbone of your area-of-effect elemental damage and party recovery.

SP Management & Skill Deployment:

Oni Power (SP) is the key to executing potent Oni Arts. When confronting high-defense elite foes and bosses, use support units first to buff your allies' attack power, then have primary damage dealers like Onimaru spend SP on Oni Transformation or screen-clearing Oni Arts to pierce enemy defenses.

Hidden Stages & The Phantom Realm:

Make sure to challenge the Phantom Realm trials during your playthrough. Not only will it yield massive amounts of Red Souls and EXP, but conquering its deepest floors also rewards you with top-tier weaponry like the "General Slayer" blade and sacred Oni equipment, significantly lowering the difficulty of main story boss battles.
